"김옥임씨 핸드폰 아닌가요?" 잊혀질만 하면 한통씩 걸려오는
전화이다. 핸드폰을 새로 개통한 2002년 부터 지금까지. 전화를
해오는 사람들의 목소리는 대개 50~60대쯤의 노년층 같다.
뭐 김옥임이라는 이름만 봐도 그 세대쯤 되보인다.

뭐하시는 분일까나? 이 핸드폰 번호 사용한지 3년이나 되었는데,
아직도 김옥임씨를 찾는 전화가 한달에 한번 정도는 온다.
방금 또 그 전화를 받고 그냥 적어봤다.

회사가 이번주에 비상에 걸렸다. 구로공단쪽에 있는 벤처기업들에 대한 불법 소프트웨어 단속을 대대적으로 하고 있다는 정보가 들어 온 것이다. 우리회사는 그래도 개발에 필요한 프로그램들은 다 구매해서 쓰고 있지만, 개인적으로 사용중인 프로그램들이 많이 있어서 단속되면 벌금을 크게 물게될 상황. 그래서 화요일 아침 7시 출근령이 내려졌고, 화요일은 오전 오후에 걸처서 컴퓨터를 포맷하고 불법 소프트웨어의 설치를 근절하는 작업이 있었다.

내 컴퓨터에는 메디컬 이미지들을 수정하기 위해서 포토샵이 설치되어 있었는데, 얼른 지워 버렸다. 이미지 뷰어로 알씨를 사용하고 있었는데 그것도 역시 삭제하였고. 두개를 대체할 무료 소프트웨어가 없을까 알아보다가 윈도우용 GIMP가 있는것을 보고 GIMP를 사용하기로 했다. GIMP는 리눅스쪽의 포토샵으로 통하는 유명한 그래픽 소프트웨어라 믿음도 가는 제품이다. 설치해서 사용해 보니, 필요한 기능도 다 있고, 사용하기도 쉬웠다. 전문 그래픽 작업을 하는것도 아니니 GIMP면 충분하겠다는 생각이 들었지.

알씨를 대체할 이미지 뷰어로는 휴먼토크의 다씨를 선택하였다. 네이버에서 검색해서 이것저것 써보다가 제일 마음에 드는 녀석이였다. 기능은 알씨와 유사하면서 더 좋은 면도 보이고. 기업에서도 무료로 사용할 수 있는 마음에 드는 녀석이다.

대학 다닐때만해도 프리웨어는 GUI의 편의성이나 기능이 떨어져서 사용을 꺼려하게 되고, 크랙을 찾아서 상용 어플이나 쉐어웨어를 사용했는데, 이제는 그러지 않아도 될것 같다. 오픈소스 진영이 갈수록 활발해 지면서 프리웨어도 사용할만한 수준에 이른것이다.

아래 목록은 기존에 사용하던 상용어플을 대체한 오픈소스 프로그램들이다.

Photoshop -> GIMP (그래픽 툴)
ACDSee, 알씨 -> 다씨 (이미지 뷰어)
알ftp, cuteFTP -> Filezilla (FTP 클라이언트)
Editplus -> AcroEdit (텍스트 에디터)

그리고 오픈소스 프로젝트들의 메카인 소스포지 사이트를 이용하면 필요한 어플들을 쉽게 찾을 수 있다. www.sourceforge.net 이다.

어제 헌혈을 했다. 원래 헌혈하던 헌혈소에는 시간이 안되서 갈수 없고... 그래서 회사근처 헌혈소에 가서 하기로 했지. 퇴근하고 바로가니 헌혈소 문닫기 전에 도착할 수 있었다.

신청서를 작성하고 헌혈을 시작. 이젠 익숙해 질만도 한데... 바늘 들어가는건 조금 긴장된다. 근데 간호사가 베테랑인지 전혀 안아프게 들어갔다. (적어도 이때까지는 베테랑인가 보다 생각했다. ^^) 바늘이 들어가자 나는 손바닥 폈다 접었다 하면서 피가 빨리 빠지는 운동을 시작했지. 그런데 갑자기 간호사가 내 팔을 쓱쓱 문지르는거다. 그리고 혈액파우치도 아래에 놨다가 내 다리 옆으로 올려 놓고. 흠... 피가 안나오나 보군... 하는 생각이 들었다. 말로만 들어오던 바늘 다시 꼽기 신공이 나에게 펼쳐질려나... 하는 생각이 들었다.

다행이도 그런일은 없었지만 5분이면 끝나던 헌혈시간이 10분 넘게 지속되었다. 그 동안 간호사는 계속 내 팔을 문질러 대고... 꼭 피를 짜내는듯한 느낌이 드는게 참 묘하더군. 그런 생각을 하니 웃음이 나와 버렸다.

오늘 아침 샤워하기전에 헌혈한 자리에 붙인 밴드를 띠고 보니 어제 피가 왜 그렇게 안나왔는지 이해가 가더군. 어제 찌른 혈관이 별로 큰 녀석이 아니었다. 이구... 앞으로 그 헌혈소는 피해야 겠다... (어느 헌혈소인지는 밝히지 않겠다. ^^)

'게리롱 푸리롱', 이 이야기를 처음 인터넷에서 접했을때 처음 생각났던 곡은 이곡이였다. 하지만 아쉽게도 이곡은 아니였고 스파이시 걸스의 'Two become one'이였지. 들어보니 정말 게리롱 푸리롱~~ ^^ 뭐 그래도 쉬여웠다. 그렇게 틀린 발음이라고 생각되지도 않았고.

오늘 오랜만에 the Indigo의 이곡을 들어보았다. 근데 이곡도 발음을 들으니... 게리롱이군. ㅋㅋ 뒤에 코러스들도 게리롱~~ 살며시 미소가 떠올랐다. 뭐 한국사람이나 일본사람이나... 그렇게 발음할수도 있다는 생각이 들었다. 재밌기도 하고.
